Rustic Autumn Wedding in the Crisp Mountain Air

·

Kellie and Chris’s wedding had an authentic rustic romance about it that made it so uniquely theirs. Tucked away deep in the Pocono Mountains, Kellie and Chris were married on a beautiful October day. The smell of fallen leaves filled the crisp mountain air as the couple gathered with a small group of loved ones to celebrate their love for each other.

Inspired by the simple, natural beauty of this unique ceremony space and the autumn woods, Kellie’s bouquet features deep reds and violets loosely gathered in a textured dance of movement and color. Hints of peach, pink, coral, and lavender create a smooth transition between the lush deeper tones.

Burgundy roses and dahlia, paired with dark purple scabiosa set the foundation for this color palette. You’ll see that we use pink globe amaranth, deep lavender agonis foliage, peach spray roses, and pink astrantia to tie it all together. In order to create a certain feel or “color”, we will actually use a range of colors to help balance the tones and to make certain colors really pop! Just look at how all of the colors work together to make the burgundy blooms burst with lush romance.

Another important aspect of our design is, of course, texture! Notice how the dahlia, amaranth, astrantia, heather, and sedum all work together to give this bouquet it’s incredible texture and movement. These are some of our favorite local blooms to work with because they make for such an interesting arrangement, that you just can’t look away from!

Kellie and Chris were married by Lehigh Valley celebrant, Alisa Tongg. Founder of Promise Ridge and Bacon & Lox Society (a local creative collective), Alisa is a brilliant storyteller and devout lover of nature, ritual, and community. Her vision for the Living Wall ceremony space, atop the infinity deck at Promise Ridge, is a dream come true for nature-loving couples looking to have a small, intimate wedding.

J & R Photography did an amazing job capturing the timeless, natural intimacy shared between Chris and Kellie. These shots of the newlywed couple in front of the expansive Appalachian view are just breathtaking.

One of our favorite parts about microweddings, is the communal tables! Kellie and Chris chose to have a long floral runner with lots of lush greenery and burgundy/peach blooms that spilled over two feet on either side of the table. We love getting the opportunity to make larger statement pieces like this! What could be better than sitting down to the table, with your closest loved ones, to enjoy your first meal as a couple amongst a garden of gorgeous blooms?

It was a true delight to design the florals for this incredibly beautiful and natural autumn wedding.

Gorgeous Simplicity: A September Evening Wedding

·

Stephanie and Gabe were married on a cool September evening at Durham Springs in Bucks County. As they said their vows in the afternoon light, the world seemed to stand still for a moment.

Stephanie and Gabe’s wedding was all about gorgeous simplicity. The couple chose this modern triangle ceremony piece which we used from our good friends and neighbors, Fox and Finch Vintage Rentals. The triangle of loooooove (as we sometimes call it in the studio) really does offer the perfect structure to highlight Stephanie’s natural, boho look.

Stephanie chose a loosely gathered bouquet with lots of texture and greenery! A neutral color palette of creams and greens, gave this wedding a simple, modern elegance that we all crave! As much as we love working with color, florals with a neutral color palette, give us the unique opportunity to really focus on texture and movement.

What gives this bouquet so much interest is the wide variety of florals and seeded and gunni eucalyptus. It features spray roses, local dahlias, stock, astrantia, scabiosa and polo and playa blanca roses. This bouquet is about half greenery, offering  a more natural, organic look.

Aimee Blasko did an amazing job of capturing the pure joy shared by Stephanie and Gabe during their first look! Don’t you love how he takes her bouquet, so she can twirl in the sunlight?! What a gentleman!

Aimee always seems to somehow capture both the quiet softness and the bold confidence of newly-wed lovers. Just look at these gorgeous shots of Stephanie and Gabe on the lovely grounds at Durham Springs.

The bold, symmetrical lines of the triangle are perfectly balanced with an asymmetrical floral design. Stephanie and Gabe’s ceremony piece features two arrangements and some lush greenery at the base to visually anchor the design. The pampas grass and huckleberry greens give this piece its boho feel.

After a beautifully heartfelt ceremony, they shared a moment together in the tall grass, before gathering at the table with loved ones for their first meal as husband and wife!

While they shared a private moment together, we were busy at work, carefully transferring the ceremony triangle and florals to the sweetheart table. We LOVE being able to design something that can be reused and have life beyond a 15 minute ceremony.

This wedding is a perfect example of the way a floral designer can bring a client’s ideas to life. This all started with a few inspiration pictures and a general boho vibe that Stephanie and Gabe wanted for their wedding.  We got to take those ideas and push them further to create a design that felt personal, and expressed who they were as a couple and set the scene for an incredible PARTY!  This is perhaps my favorite part of what we get to do-start with little inspiration and create something beyond what our couples might have dreamed was even possible.

A Dreamy Springtime Poconos Microwedding

·

If you recently got married or are actively planning your wedding, chances are you’ve heard the term microwedding. 2020 has been the year of microweddings, and honestly, we are all about it! These smaller celebrations are great because they empower you with the creative and financial tools you need to cultivate a more personalized wedding day! If you’ve had to change your plans and downsize, you’ve probably noticed that you suddenly have the time and opportunity to really curate the smaller details that distinguish your wedding from others. Whether it’s personalizing the details in your dress or creating a more embellished floral presentation, microweddings allow you the time and financial freedom to indulge in the details!!

So, where do you start? How do you create an unforgettable microwedding that truly speaks to the love that you and your partner share?

Through each step of planning, find what speaks to you. Let’s start with location. Maybe you and your partner feel a deep connection with nature. Find a space with a gorgeous mountain view or quiet stream in the woods. Maybe you both love city life. Take advantage of an intimate rooftop terrace to get an expansive cityscape view. There are endless possibilities when you only need space for 20 people! We have seen some breathtaking microwedding backdrops. For larger weddings the reception is the highlight, but for microweddings it’s the ceremony. So, take a moment to consider… “What IS my dream location?”

Next, find an officiant or celebrant that can really personalize your ceremony. The right celebrant can make a huge difference. Find someone who will create a unique, professional, and flawless experience. Now, what about that “reception”, or should we call it “the greatest dinner party you’ve ever thrown”?! When working on a smaller scale, you have the unique opportunity to really take it up a notch on all decor, table settings, florals, and food! Create a menu that is lavish and extravagant! Microweddings allow your chef or caterer to really personalize each course. Let’s be real, nobody can resist the pure delight of a sumptuous meal!

Most importantly, let’s talk about florals. A larger wedding might need 15 table centerpieces, five boutonnieres and bridesmaids bouquets, plus an arbor piece, plus cocktail table bud vases, and more! But microweddings let you focus on the floral elements that are most important to you, like the bridal bouquet or the arbor piece. You might still want a few table centerpieces, but because you will need fewer arrangements, you can really go all out! Maybe you want to make a statement with your bouquet, with large lush blooms and trailing greens. Or maybe you’d prefer a smaller bouquet, but a massive ceiling installation so you and your partner can literally dance and dine under a canopy of opulence! We especially love microweddings for this reason. They allow the client to build the floral package of their dreams!

Speaking of dreamy microweddings, take a look at this gorgeous one from the spring. Our couple was married amongst the pines at Promise Ridge in Stroudsburg, Pa. Promise Ridge is one of our favorite venues, especially for microweddings. A cozy, modern lodge overlooks a breathtaking Pocono mountain top view. It’s the perfect location for nature lovers! They create and maintain their own floral elements on their iconic “Living Wall” ceremony site. This allowed our client to create the bouquet of her dreams. It’s not every day that we get to create a bouquet with so much texture and interest. Notice how the xerographica airplant adds a subtle touch of grey greenery. These unique blooms come together to make a bouquet that has a textured, organic, almost fairytale-like feel to it.

Carolyn Jorgensen captures the essence of this springtime wedding perfectly. Her light and natural style compliments the florals in the most magical way. A microwedding isn’t just “a smaller wedding”, it’s an opportunity to make your dreams come true!

With microweddings being more and more popular, keep an eye out for more of our favorites to pop on the blog here! We can’t wait to share more.

Romantic, Boho, and Rustic: A Morgan Hill Fall Wedding

·

Variety is one of the very best parts of floral design and styling. The color, texture and styling options are literally endless.

At the beginning of our initial consult with our clients, we always ask two key questions: “If you had to describe your wedding, what words would you use?” and “What color palette would you like to work with?” These two questions jumpstart the creativity and styling process.

As we approach this upcoming autumn season, our weddings look a little different, but we did want to share this beautiful fall wedding from last year. Martina and James were married on a gorgeous day at The View at Morgan Hill, one of our favorite venues in Easton, Pennsylvania. When planning, Martina described her wedding as romantic, boho, and rustic. We were able to work in soft blush, cream, and mauve florals to enhance that romantic feel. Our loosely gathered style that we love to work in offers that rustic boho vibe.

Wesley Works from Emmaus, Pennsylvania captured every moment so beautifully. And Martina glows with her makeup done by stylist Sarah Soucek of My Beauty Breakdown in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Thank you Martina and James for allowing us to be a part of your wedding!

Kind words from Martina: “Exactly what I was looking for. The team was very helpful, accommodating and made my wedding vision come to life!”

Katie and Cody’s Autumn Country Chic Wedding

·

Autumn is always our busiest time in wedding season and the studio is usually packed with flowers and members of our design team working in each and every corner. The studio feels so full and alive with creativity, joy and laughter and all of those gorgeous rich autumn colors. We can’t wait to return to “normal”-to have the studio full of life again. We had just a handful of designers helping to put together arrangements for Mother’s Day recently and it felt so good to be together again, despite needing to wear masks and gloves and be socially distanced while designing.

Katie and Cody’s autumn wedding was the epitome of country chic-and one of our favorites from this past autumn season. It was full of vibrant and fun colors. When talking with Katie about her color palette, we landed on a combination of blush and peach with touches of blue and grey. To get that bold peach we use one of our favorite roses called “Free Spirit”. It lives up to its name in every way. And that blue thistle added that extra touch of texture and a subtle hint of blue in the bouquets. Dusty Miller is the soft grey greenery used-which was a beautiful addition.

Friedman Farms in Dallas, Pennsylvania has rolling green hills for the ceremony and a rustic barn for the reception-truly a perfect backdrop for a country chic look. We are so excited to share these gorgeous images from Dearly Beloved Weddings of Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania.

Congratulations Kate and Cody! We wish you a lifetime of joy.

Kind words from Katie: “Sarah and the crew are awesome! They are so easy to work with and really make your dreams a reality. This was the one thing about my wedding that I didn’t have to worry about!!”
