This month, we’re catching up with our studio co-manager, Megan. Megan came to the wedding industry first as a skilled cake decorator. She was curious about event planning and thought she might explore floral design as a component of event planning. We love her passion for flowers, and she is a beautiful designer. One of her many hidden talents though is her ability to create mechanics and structures. Everyone loves dramatic statement florals-be they in a ceiling or something unusual for a tabletop or wall space. These pieces need careful thought and internal structures for support so that they are both safe AND stunning come wedding day. Megan’s mind works in wondrous ways, and she can build just about anything she sets her mind to.
Megan also runs the load out. Since we sometimes have multiple weddings in a day, careful coordination of what items go to each wedding is very important. This includes choosing the right mix of staffing and strategic van packing skills (think Tetris but with fragile items), both a critical part of a smooth delivery experience, and she completes this task perfectly.
In Megan’s free time, she is always moving and doing something. Whether it’s seeing her family, hanging out with friends, going to concerts, hiking or reading, she always has something exciting going on. One of her past times that she’s most passionate about is fostering cats and kittens. She’s been fostering for about five years now and has taken care of many adorable animals in that time.
When designing, Megan loves to make cake surround pieces as an homage to her cake decorating days. She designs gorgeous pieces, like the pastel beauty pictured below. At the studio, Megan also loves the days when we get our local blooms delivered. She appreciates the variety and being able to support other local businesses in the work we do.
We are so fortunate to have Megan on our team. This year she has helped to create and execute so many beautiful weddings.
